David discovered this critter in the 4Runner (the 4Runner would soon be christened ‘Marfa’), hanging out while he worked on the body and engine. He couldn’t smash her, so he gently scooped her up (with a piece of paper!) and escorted her outside.

Wow – I’ve never seen a spider like that before. A bit on the scary side, but I’m glad she didn’t get smashed!
Sheila – It’s good that David found her, not me. My scream alone would have caused a shock wave that could injure a spider!

Isn’t interesting how animals and insects change as you move around the country.
Really is! One extreme example is the completely different “life zones” seen at differing elevations at the Grand Canyon. We humans had to adapt, starting with hiking through snow at the rim, wearing hats, layers and gloves, then peeling down gradually until at the bottom we wore just one thin layer with rolled up sleeves.
